GSL Lorrie Saliba's 50th Scouting Anniversary Feast
Report by CSL Anita Muscat
15th June 2013
According to the group records, a new Cub joined the Victoria Scout Group on the 12th June 1963. His name was Lorrie Saliba. On the 12th June 2013, this Cub celebrated 50 uninterrupted years as a Scout. He is now the Group Scout Leader of this group.
To commemorate this memorable and rather unique occasion and to show their appreciation and gratitude, the Victoria Scout Group organized a special meeting on Saturday 15th June 2013. Family members, former Scouts, officials from the Scout Association of Malta and other friends gathered at headquarters to celebrate the occasion with the GSL. An ongoing slideshow depicted photos of the GSL during these past 50 years. Each section presented an item. Various poems were dedicated to the GSL. Various people including the first GSL of the group, Mr Joseph G Grech narrated episodes of Lorrie's life as a Scout and how he had dedicated his lifetime ensuring that the Victoria Scout Group kept going from strong to stronger and that its members learnt and applied the values of Scouting in their lives and lived up to the Scout Law and Promise. Finally the GSL cut his anniversary cake.
