Annual General Meeting 2013

The Victoria Scout Group held its Annual General Meeting at its headquarters on Saturday 26th January 2013. The Group Scout Leader, Lorrie Saliba, the Council Secretary, Maria Mercieca and the Council Treasurer, Gino Mizzi delivered their respective reports which illustrated the Group's activities for the year 2012.
The Council Chairman, Michael Grech gave a short talk where he described the initiatives proposed and carried out during Mr Cassar's tenure as Chairman and how he had served the group for many, many years. Mr Grech expressed the group's appreciation and gratitude and declared that the group had indeed lost a great friend.
The Chief Commissioner of the Scout Association of Malta, Leslie Bonnici attended the meeting. The Mayor of Victoria, Dr Samuel Azzopardi was also present. Guest speaker, Nathan Farrugia, CEO of Inspire, a non-profit organisation that provides therapeutic, education and leisure services to persons with disabilities in Malta and Gozo gave a short talk.
Presentations for the Venture Scout, Scout and Cub of the Year for each Pack followed. Certificates of Merit were awarded to other Ventures, Scouts and Cubs. Some Patrols and Sixes who had won various competitions received trophies and certificates.
The GSL and the Fox Patrol presented cheques to Dr John B Pace as President of the organization "The Friends of the Sick and the Elderly".
Two long serving members of the group council, Ms Mary Aquilina and Ms Josette Buttigieg were presented with mementos as recognition for their work throughout the years.
