Jum Għawdex

The Victoria and the Xagħra Scout Groups participated in the Jum Għawdex (Gozo Day) commemoration ceremony held by the Gozo Regional Council on Sunday 28th October 2012.

This year marked the 214th anniversary of the uprising of the Gozitans against the French in Gozo under the leadership of Archpriest Saverio Cassar and the capitulation of the French forces on the island.

A high mass was celebrated at the Gozo Cathedral. This was followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the Saverio Cassar monument in Independence Square, Victoria.
